Terms of Use

These terms govern use of the VIN Lookup website and its public-data tools.

Permitted use

You may use the site for lawful personal research and reasonable professional vehicle-information tasks. Do not use it to harass, deceive, identify private individuals, misrepresent vehicle condition, bypass security, overload upstream services, or violate applicable law.

No bulk or automated abuse

The interface supports one VIN at a time. Automated scraping, high-volume VIN submission, service disruption, and attempts to circumvent rate or access controls are prohibited. NHTSA also applies its own traffic controls to public APIs.

Public government data

Vehicle information and recall records may be supplied by NHTSA services. Those sources can contain missing, delayed, revised, or incomplete data. Availability can change without notice. VIN Lookup does not own official government records and does not guarantee uninterrupted access.

User responsibility

Confirm important vehicle and safety information through NHTSA, the manufacturer, an authorized dealer, or the relevant state authority. Do not rely on the site as a substitute for legal, mechanical, title, ownership, or safety advice.

Website materials and external links

The original interface, explanatory text, and branding are protected materials. External links are provided for context; the destination controls its own content and practices. Misuse of the VIN Lookup name or interface to imply government affiliation is prohibited.
